Netball Success!

Reported by Captain Agi

SSAS netball team are unstoppable! We have done amazingly well this season and have made it into the top division. We knew the games would be tougher, but we really rose to the challenge. Our first match against Wheatfields ended with a fantastic 13–2 win. The result really boosted our confidence going into the next fixtures, leading to another great score of 15–4 against St Bernadette’s. Our next match was against Skyswood. We knew it would be tight, but we focussed on playing our own game which took us to our highest win yet of 18-3!!! Then came our second‑to‑last match against Abbey. We didn’t have the strongest start and there were a few nerves, but we pulled ourselves together and came back brilliantly to finish with a final score of 17–5.

Netball Tournament

Last year, we didn’t do so well at this tournament, so we were determined to make a comeback. We played eight matches and… we won every single one! In the semi‑final, we were up against the strong Skyswood team, and we knew it would be a tough match. But we held on to our 3–1 lead, securing our place in the final. We knew we were so close—just one more match to play. Win or lose, we already felt proud of how far we had come. The tension built as the game began, and after eight intense minutes, the final score was 6–1. We had done it—we won the whole tournament!

Netball Final against STAHS

It all came down to this — SSAS versus STAHS. This was the final game, and a win would mean we had won everything. The match opened with their centre pass, and they took it straight down to their shooter. The same then happened from our centre. It was a real nail‑biter, and the parents, teachers, and even our Head Teacher watching were all on edge. Tension mounted in the air as the final whistle drew nearer. Knowing we had to give absolutely everything against such a skilful opposing team, SSAS pushed on with everyone in top form. The defence pulled off crucial intercepts and rebounds, working brilliantly together to move the ball up the court with the attack, and the shooters finishing the job. All the hard work from the team and our coaches really paid off, leading to a fantastic final score of 13–9!!!

We had done it - we are officially the best netball team in St Albans this year!

A massive shout-out to our fabulous coaches Paola and Greta for all of their coaching - we couldn't have done it without them!

Well done to SSAS!!!
