Living Our Faith: Community & Participation, and Harvest Thanks
05.10.26 Harvest
This half term, our Catholic Social Teaching focus is Community and Participation— As humans, we are made to live in community with one another. This means being active members of the world we live in. Pope Francis said:
‘Do we open ourselves to the Holy Spirit, so as to be an active part of our communities, or do we close in on ourselves, saying 'I have so many things to do, that's not my job’?’
To put this teaching into action, our school community came together to collect donations for the St Albans Food Bank.
On Monday 5th October, we held a special Harvest Liturgy led by our Pupil Chaplaincy Team alongside Fr John. Together, we:
-
Gave thanks for the food on our tables and expressed our gratitude to the farmers and producers who work tirelessly to feed us.
-
Offered prayers and intercessions for those in our own school community and across St Albans who are facing hardship and going hungry.
Living out our Catholic values means turning our faith into action. By supporting the food bank, our pupils have demonstrated what it truly means to participate in building a fairer, more compassionate society, giving dignity to all.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to this collection. Your kindness will directly impact local families in need!
