A Busy Few Weeks in Year 3

18.9.26 Year 3 blog entry
Year 3 have had a busy and successful start to the academic year, settling brilliantly into the upper school. Throughout their first term, they have enjoyed drama activities, hands-on science investigations exploring rocks, and interactive maths games to strengthen their understanding of place value. They also loved wearing their own clothes to school to raise money for the Autumn Fayre.
In English, the children had great fun creating freeze frames based on our class text, Stone Age Boy. They role-played the moment the two main characters met, capturing their shock at encountering someone from a completely different era.
In science, we have been learning about rocks and their properties. One of our favourite investigations involved testing different rocks to see which were permeable and which were impermeable.
In maths, the children deepened their understanding of place value through a fun, interactive activity called "The Banker's Game," where they learned how to exchange ones for tens, and tens for hundreds.
Overall, it has been a rewarding start to the year, with the children showing great enthusiasm across all their subjects as they settle into upper school life.
