A Blessed Day of Worship and Heritage at St Albans Cathedral

Members of our school choir recently joined with fellow schools from the All Saints Catholic Academy Trust (ASCAT) to celebrate Mass together at St Albans Cathedral.
It was a deeply moving experience to gather as part of the wider Catholic family with pupils, parents and parishioners to praise God in such a historic setting. Our pupils sang beautifully, offering prayerful renditions of 'The Lord’s My Shepherd', 'Open Our Eyes, Lord', and 'The Servant King', which enhanced the liturgy wonderfully.
While at the cathedral, the children were also excited to see the giant puppet of St Alban, which was on display in readiness for the upcoming feast day procession. This was particularly meaningful for us, as St Alban is one of our school’s patron saints.
Following Mass, we shared a picnic lunch before taking a short pilgrimage to Holywell Hill to visit the site of the Holy Well. The children reflected on the tradition of our patron saint, learning how a miraculous spring of water was said to have flowed where his head rested after his martyrdom.
It was a truly special day of fellowship, prayer, and living history. We are very proud of our children for representing our school so beautifully.
