Year 6 have been incredibly busy since half term. They have been learning lines for the end of year production, as well as continuing to work hard in all their subjects each morning. Last week, they took part in a theatre workshop with Leo’s mother – Leo is in Year 2, Willows. Her name is Sarah Goggin and she is currently performing on the west end stage in “Back to the Future”. Sarah went through lots of activities giving the children a chance to learn a range of new techniques, which we hope will help them in their performance. Thank you, Sarah!
Yesterday, after a beautiful 90th mass celebration, where the children read, sang and behaved wonderfully, they had the opportunity to take part in a transition workshop. It was run by a charity called “Step” which is a Christian organisation working in secondary schools in St Albans and Harpenden. Several of the helpers are based in the secondary schools where the children will be going and for this reason the children had the chance to work in the groups that will be moving on with them. Linked to stories from the bible, the children learnt about friendships and journeys, while reflecting on their time in primary school, thinking about all they will take with them on their next step. They made bracelets where each trinket represented a memory of primary school. Despite the heat, the afternoon was incredibly rewarding for all involved. Amy, from the charity said: “Your school is lovely, friendly and welcoming and the two year six groups were great.” You made us very proud, Year 6, well done!
