What a busy term we have had in Year 6 and here we find ourselves already at the Easter holidays. The children have worked hard this week to write stories completely independently as part of the KS2 story writing competition. You can see that they use their purple pens for careful and thoughtful edits, as well as working together to give considered feedback. The children have also been using the chrome books this week in order to find out what happened in St Albans during World War II. St Albans Museums provides fantastic insight into what happened in our town and how the war impacted family life. We also looked up where the bombs dropped and thought about how this might have changed the landscape or housing around our neighbourhoods. Finally, we also went back in time in Computing where we found out about computers of the past. The children enjoyed playing a version of an arcade game from the 1980s called “Frogger”. Perhaps you might be able to share any computer games you played when you were younger and ask your child to compare with the games they play today?
For now, however, the Year 6 team would like to wish all our families a peaceful Easter break.
