Mosaic Artwork
Cedar Class’ turn to help create the mosaic, all children contributed. We can’t wait to see the finished result!
Visit to our school church
We started the week by visiting St Alban and St Stephen Church where Father John met us. He spoke to us about the significance of mass and the expectations upon us once at mass. The children practised walking to their seats in the pews and genuflecting. Afterwards, groups of children visited the vestry and Father John showed us his robes, explained when to wear them, and also showed us some of the other objects in there such as the Bibles and photos of the Bishop.
Science
This week we learned about water resistance. The children then conducted an investigation to see how altering the shape of plasticine affected the amount of water resistance it experienced. The children found they could slow down the rate that the plasticine sank, by reducing the size and flattening the shape. Conversely, to make the plasticine sink faster, the children found that this could be done by moulding it into a sphere.
Macbeth workshop
Year 5 had all the perfect elements for their Macbeth workshop: inclement weather, a full moon and it being Friday 13th in October! We had an afternoon watching the fabulous Young Shakespeare Company perform the suitably spooky play, and the children made predictions throughout about what might happen next. This is in preparation for work we will do on Macbeth next Half Term.
Have a lovely weekend!
