An exciting start back this term for Year 5 as we had a visit on Wednesday from the Young Shakespeare Company who gave a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Well, I say they gave a performance, but strictly speaking, we all gave a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream! It was an exciting and vibrant interactive workshop for the children, that retold the plot of the play in an engaging and hilarious way. Both children and adults were captivated! As you will see in the photos, some of the children were given the opportunity to join the cast and play the parts of the Athenians and the fairies. We all came together to make the sounds of the magical forest creating a magnificent soundscape, full of hoots, howls and swishing wind. Inspired by our experience, we then wrote poems the following day to describe the magical woods and the writing that has come out of it is simply wonderful. Great start Year 5!
