Year 5 have embraced their new science topic of space. We have investigated our solar system, using ourselves as models of planets. We thought about the distance of each planet from the sun and how they are different. The children learnt a mnemonic to remember each planet’s name and the order they are in: see if your child can recall them!
Linked to our Science topic, we have been studying the Mars Rover in Computing. We have discovered that there have been several different versions of the Rover since 1997. We looked into how data is transmitted from the Rover to NASA, as well as how the instructions have been sent from NASA to the Rover. We have all enjoyed looking at binary code and there are several links on our Google Classrooms to explore if your child is interested.
