This week, Year 5 began their new Science topic Material World. We began by reviewing what we already knew. We created a word cloud together with the iPads to show all of the vocabulary we associated with Materials.
The children then had a chance to work together, sorting materials by their properties.
We discussed how all of these different properties made these materials useful in different ways.
Elsewhere this week in Year 5, the children have loved the mystery and suspense of our new class novel Boy in the Tower in English, we have been learning about equivalent fractions as well as improper fractions and mixed numbers in Maths, and we continued our work on our new Geography topic, Deserts, by looking at the climate in hot and cold deserts. We are also very excited to welcome our new Year 5 Teaching Assistant, Mr Brain, to our school!
