This week we began our study of Advent by making Advent promises. The word ‘Advent’ means ‘coming’ or ‘arrival’. The season of Advent is focused on the coming of Jesus as Messiah. It is a time when Christians prepare to receive that love and friendship given in Jesus at Christmas. We thought hard about how we could give the gifts of love and friendship towards others and how we could become better people ourselves through offering these gifts. We then wrote our Advent promises on holly shapes pieces of green paper which were arranged to form an Advent wreath for our display board.
