On Wednesday, 15th January, Year 3 stepped back in time more than 5000 years to explore the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt. Dressed in traditional robes, colourful crowns and decorative collars, the children spent the day taking part in activities that ancient Egyptians would have enjoyed. They sculpted clay canopic jars, painted beautiful frescos for tombs, practised writing in hieroglyphics, crafted amulets to keep the evil spirits away, made sweet-smelling perfume cones and even tried their hand at mummification – using wooden pegs as the bodies!
In the afternoon, the children worked in groups to act out famous Egyptian stories and perform traditional dances. It was a busy but fantastic day that truly brought history to life. We had an amazing time and learnt so much!
