Year 3 had a wonderful time learning about the customs and traditions of Judaism at the Radlett Reform Synagogue. We had an opportunity to see the Torah scroll, which is kept in the Ark cabinet, and find out about some of the signs and symbols of the Jewish faith. We also had a go at reading and writing Hebrew and even got to try on a tallit and a kippah, special garments worn during worship. The children were fascinated by the Eternal Light, which hung above the Ark. According to Jewish beliefs, the Eternal Light is a reminder of the presence of God in our lives. At the end of our visit everyone was offered to taste some of the traditional Jewish bread called the Challah. It was delicious!
