As part of our RE unit on different faiths, Year 3 had the wonderful opportunity to visit a synagogue and learn about Judaism. The children explored key features within the synagogue, including the Ark and the Eternal Light. They were especially fascinated to see the Torah scroll, the Jewish holy book, and to learn that it’s entirely handwritten in Hebrew, containing over 70,000 words!
Our guide shared insights into Jewish festivals and traditions. She even showed us the shofar, a special horn blown 100 times on Rosh Hashanah, which certainly takes a lot of skill!
The trip was a fantastic way to bring our learning about world religions to life. A big thank you to the staff at St Albans Masorti Synagogue for such a memorable visit!
