This half term, our Catholic Social Teaching topic is Stewardship of God’s Creation. This links to our last half term’s curriculum topic of Oceans, where we learnt all about the oceans, the amazing creatures that live in the oceans and how we can protect them. Our art has also helped us to be thankful for God’s wonderful creation, as we have been thinking about the beautiful and unique coral sculptures in the ocean. We delved into the world of clay, inspired by the captivating sculptures of artist Courtney Mattison. The children explored where clay comes from and experimented with it. With tools and techniques, they moulded and shaped, learning the importance of water to revive dry clay. They created their own coral sculptures focusing on all the techniques they have learned in their art lessons. We were very impressed with the final outcome!
