We have had an amazing past two weeks in Year 1. This Wednesday, we took a coach journey to Mead Open Farm, to consolidate our learning for our current topic, On The Farm. The children got the opportunity to pet the rabbits, feed the lambs and goats, ride a tractor, groom a pony and to top it off we played in an awesome climbing area!! We were even lucky enough to see a baby calf being born! Even the adults couldn’t resist a go on the equipment.
Last week, we were fortunate enough to have a special delivery of some living eggs. As the week went on, these eggs hatched into beautiful little chicks. This week, we took care of the chicks by carefully handling them and stroking them. The chicks have now been passed onto the trusting hands of some SSAS staff members.
Also this week, the children have become photographers! We have been learning about how to take clear and high quality photos. We have learnt top tips, such as creating a good close up angel, making sure the setting and background is appropriate and that the photograph is not blurry. Afterwards, we worked together to choose our favourite photos and create a photo collage. Here are some examples of our lovely photo collages:
