Year 1 have had such a busy week!
The highlights of the week, were bringing our History Topic alive when some of our children’s Grandparents came into class to share their experiences of school several decades ago. We compared how education had changed, but also noticed some similarities, such as having a best friend, a favourite subject or teacher.
Thank you so much to the Grandparents for giving up their time and sharing their experiences, photographs and school books from their school days.
The next big event was Transition Day!
We all spent the day with our new Teachers and we explored our new classrooms.
In the afternoon, we had a lovely PSHE lesson with our current teacher, learning about the Holy Trinity.
We thought about the different relationships we have with different members of our family, I.E. I am a daughter/son, I am also a grandchild and I am also a cousin or brother/sister. We had fun drawing our different relationships at home and we recreated the Trinity with two of our friends.
Today, we were very privileged to have Miss. Sophia – our resident Gardening expert, come to Year 1.
She taught the children how to identify different types of trees and they went on a tree-spotting challenge. Then they planted some new trees in our garden area.
We wish all our families a super weekend.
Last week next week!!! Then you will be in Willow & Cherry Classes!
