English writing for whole school book, Flotsam.
We have been blown away by the children’s creativity and thoughtful writing during the past three weeks. We have produced fact-files about sea creatures, created posters to encourage people to look after our planet and used imperative verbs to write persuasive sentences to insist that people reuse, reduce and recycle. Finally, they created a new chapter with themselves in the story. The Year 1 children are getting extremely good at writing!
Do please keep practising your phonics, reading and learning your tricky words.
Racial Justice Sunday
Each year group studied an alternative Saint this week. Year 1 learnt the story about St. Jose Sanchez del Rio, who was a Mexican Saint.
The children produced beautiful ‘stained glass windows’ in honour of St. Jose and wrote prayer cards as they were inspired to be kind and think about how they could welcome others from all cultures and faiths.
We wish all our families a healthy and relaxing half term break.
We look forward to seeing you all refreshed on Monday 24th February.
