Year 1 have had lots of fun starting our new book focus, Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne.
We started the week, by tasting exotic fruits and describing the appearance and taste using adjectives.
We then went onto following instructions to make a salad, noticing the ‘bossy verbs’ or imperative verbs that instruct us when following a recipe.
We all enjoyed eating it afterwards!
In Maths, we have been learning how to tell time.
At first, we made a real moving clock and learnt about the two different hands, the Minute Hand and the Hour Hand.
Some children were very confident and some found it more tricky.
Do please continue to support your child, as practice makes perfect.
.
Also this week we learnt about Hinduism and the story of Lord Krishna.
We acted out the story of the naughty young Krishna, stealing butter and learnt about the signs and symbols associated with him
– peacock feathers, a flute, calf and a blue face!
Year 1 are very excited for our trip to Mead Farm next Thursday.
All volunteers have been informed and all packed lunches have been ordered.
Wishing all our families a very restful weekend.
