A super, fun-packed final week of this half term.
We started the week with our trip to Clarence Park, which we had been planning through our Geography lessons. We have been looking at maps and our local area. After our trip we created posters to persuade other people to visit the park and enjoy our local area.
We also used our senses, which we have been learning about in our Science lessons. In the park, we used our sense of sight, hearing, touch and smell. But we did not use our sense of taste, because it is not safe to eat anything you will find in the park as it might be poisonous.
Thank you to all our parent volunteers that supported us with this trip.
The other highlight of our week was celebrating Black History. Each year group chose a person who had influenced history. Laurie Cunningham was the first black footballer to represent our England football team. We researched his family history: he was born in London to Jamaican parents and we found out about his many footballing achievements. He started as a young football player with Leyton Orient, then moved to West Bromwich Albion and then Manchester United. As well as playing for England, he later played for Real Madrid, a Spanish football team. We also found out that Laurie Cunningham has influenced many young black players today.
Finally, we found out that he was a great dancer and he won trophies for his great dancing!
We celebrated our Black History research in our special assembly this morning.
We wish all our families a fantastic half term break and we look forward to seeing you on Monday 4th November.
