For the last couple of weeks Year 3 have been developing their measuring skills and their knowledge of the metric system of measurements. We’ve been learning how to measure the length and width of objects accurately in millimetres, centimetres and metres, as well as how to measure weight (mass) in grams and kilograms, and capacity (volume) in litres and millilitres. We’ve also had great fun measuring the dimensions of our bodies such as height and weight and as well as filling up containers with water to measure capacity. Among the many things we’ve learnt about measuring is how to record measures using decimals e.g. if our height is 1metre and 45centimetres, this would be written as 1.45m.
