What a super week we have had in Year 1.
We have absolutely loved immersing ourselves into books! Fiction, non-fiction, poetry and comics.
On Wednesday, we had Olaf Falafel visiting our school. He spoke to us all about the many jobs he had, not just being an author and illustrator. He was so inspiring and shared his passion for books and reading, how to draw the characters from his books as well as sharing some funny jokes! He then signed books that had been purchased.
Then we had World Book Day on Thursday.
All the children had made such an effort with their costumes, with lots of handmade and recycled outfits. They had also chosen their favourite books so well and were able to explain why they were their favourite book. We had a grade parade with the whole of EYFS and KS1, which was a great event. Then in the afternoon, some parents were able to come into school and read with their child in class. We also had siblings from other year groups join together to share a story.
Thank you so much with supporting your child with their costumes and for their love of books.
All the children have gone home today with a £1 gift token to use in a book shop.
Wishing all our families a restful weekend and wishing all Mothers a very happy Mothering Sunday!
Next week it is Science Week and we have lots of activities and parents coming into school to share their science expertise.
