Our school has been buzzing with book blether all week! We had a visit on Wednesday from author and illustrator Olaf Falafel. He talked to us about what inspires him to write and draw (and perform stand-up comedy!). He also showed us how to draw characters from his books. Years 3,4 and 5 enjoyed his workshops enormously and I am sure that we will be seeing lots of funny comic strips soon.
On Thursday, it was World Book Day and, as is our tradition, we dressed up to a theme. Our theme this year was “Heroes and Villains” as inspired by our whole school book, “The Fate of Fausto”. The children enjoyed a special World Book Day/ Singing Assembly and later in the afternoon we held our Family Reading Sessions once again. As you can see by everyone’s faces, the day was a huge success. It was a fantastic way to celebrate how much we love reading and books of all genres in our school. Huge thanks to all our wonderful families who go the extra mile to make and prepare costumes for the children, making the day extra special.
