This week we have been doing an experiment to explore the chemical reaction between the acidic juice of a lemon and bicarbonate of soda. We cut lemons in half, mashed the surface with a wooden fork, added some washing up liquid and blue food colouring and then put bicarbonate of soda on the lemons. The effect was amazing! There was a great effervescence of all the components and the children really loved seeing the effect of this ‘explosion’.
This week in our outdoor learning we looked at the foliage of different plants and then did some rubbing of them, using crayons. We also looked for minibeasts, using magnifying glasses.
The children have really enjoyed watching the chicks grow. They have grown so much in just one week.
In art the children have been looking at primary colours and have them mixed their own secondary colours using the colour wheel.
