We have been so so busy for the past couple of weeks in Reception. Here are some of the lovely things we have been doing:
Maths Week:
We started our Maths week celebrations by reading a story called ‘How Many Jelly Beans?’. We had lots of fun activities based around jelly beans, such as estimating, counting. We each made a sensible guess for how many jelly beans we thought were in a tub. To round off our celebrations, we all wore a Maths inspired outfit!
Igloo Tea Cakes:
We have loved learning all about the polar regions of our world and the animals you may find there! We all made our own igloo using a tea cake, icing and marshmallows! They were very yummy!! We all wrote a simple word or sentence to describe the steps we took to make our igloo.
The Fate Of Fausto:
Over the past three weeks the whole school have been learning about Fables through our whole school book, ‘The Fate Of Fausto’. The children in Reception have learnt what a fable is and have loved acting out different parts of the story. The children put themselves in Fausto’s shoes and shared how they were feeling. We had ideas such as: fierce, mad, grumpy, greedy. We wrote a simple sentence describing how Fausto was feeling during the story.
Bible Stories:
In our bible stories lessons, we have been learning about ‘Joseph And His Coat, as well as the story of when Joseph went to Egypt. We have been getting very creative during CIL to create pieces of artwork that reflect different parts of the story.
In our RE lessons, we have discussed the significance and importance of ‘Gathering’ together. We have recognised how Jesus is the light of the world and guides us. We got very creative again and created our own artwork representing the light that Jesus brings to the world.
Express Yourself:
Finally, on Tuesday we celebrated Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing week by putting on a talent show in our classes. It was wonderful to see so many children being brave and expressing their talents! We had magicians, dancers, ballerinas, singers, mathematicians and much more! Well done to the group of children that were super brave and shared their talent with other children and adults in the assembly!!
