Today, our Key Stage 2 pupils attended Mass at Ss Alban & Stephen Church with families and staff to mark the start of the new academic year. Our Key Stage 1 and EYFS pupils watched the Mass back in school and were able to join in with the singing and prayers.
Father Michael celebrated the Mass. During his homily, he reminded us of the words of our School Prayer: ‘Help us to be the best that we can be.’ Father Michael said that every time we pray these words, we should remember that Jesus did His best and gave everything that He had when He died on the Cross for us. Each one of us should therefore follow Jesus’ example and do the best that we can do by trying to be the best versions of ourselves each and every day of this new school year.
During the Mass, Father Michael also commissioned our new Pupil Chaplaincy Team and blessed them as they start their new roles.
We are very proud of our Year 6 pupils and the way that they read the Scripture readings and prayers so clearly and thoughtfully. All of the pupils in church were very reverent and enjoyed the special time spent with God.
We pray to God that over the coming year He will:
‘Help us to be the best that we can be
And guide us as we stay connected to you, and Jesus, in all that we do.’
