Spring term part 2 has started off in whirlwind of exciting activities in Year 6.
As part of our World Book Day celebrations we welcomed author and comedian, James Campbell, to our school. James visited every key stage and the children thoroughly enjoyed his tales about his childhood and how to become a writer. His key advice? Get yourself a pen and a piece of paper. Write. That’s it! Just go for it! Next week, we are all looking forward to coming into school in our pyjamas as part of our World Book Day theme – Bedtime Stories. I cannot wait to share the photos with everyone!
On a more solemn note, we have all been thinking and praying for Pope Francis at this time. I am delighted to read at time of writing ( Friday 28th Feb) that he is starting to show signs of improvement. The children wrote prayers to him during our World Day of Prayer event which were very touching. As part of the special day, the children also completed small prayers on the theme of “Hope” on small leaves, which are pictured here. They have also created a chain of hope which has messages of positivity and hope on each link. This, with the leaves, will be on display at some point very soon. Watch this space!
Finally, the Year 6 teachers were delighted to welcome many parents to the SATs meeting on Wednesday evening. The presentation will be sent out next week to all families and if you have any concerns then please speak to the class teachers. In the classroom, the children have performed amazingly well in their practice papers and we will be feeding back their marks next week.
We wish all our Year 6 families a peaceful weekend.
