This week we started Phase 1 of phonics and we were learning all about environmental sounds. The children were excellent at listening to sounds and guessing what they could hear. They put on their best listening ears and went on a walk around the outside area. They were super quiet so they could hear all the different noises outside. They could hear birds, the wind, the train, children playing and that’s just a few of the different environmental sounds they could hear. Everyone really enjoyed the listening walk and was super excited to take home their listening ears too!
We also had a very exciting Friday Afternoon this week in the outdoor area. The children were very lucky to spot a frog hopping around outside! They were very excited to see the frog up close and they were super quiet and considerate to give the frog some space. They got to see all his speckles just like in the song 5 speckled frogs that we had been learning this week during our math lessons. When the frog hopped off down the path we came back inside and watched a video about frogs. We then found lots of books about minibeasts and we searched through them to find pictures of different frogs. It was a very busy and exciting afternoon. We hope the frog comes back to see us soon!
