Last week, the children were fascinated with the pumpkins in our outdoor area and had lots of questions. Luckily for us, Mrs Sultana was able to answer some of the questions and interest the children in her home made Pumpkin Soup. This week, a lot of the children (and staff) tried pumpkin soup for the first time. There were lots of empty bowls by the end of it!
In Maths, we have been learning how to compare numbers, using the words ‘more’ and ‘less’. We each voted for a book that we wanted to be read at the end of the day and then counted and compared the cubes to see which tower had more. We have also been practising our number formation in the water area outside.
In this weeks PSHE lesson, we were learning about gentle hands. We heard a story where Jigsaw Genie was playing outside and his friend wanted to join him, but he got frustrated and shouted “No” and then slapped his friend. The children discussed how that was not a good choice and what he should have done. These are some of the children’s suggestions’ always use kind and gentle hands, we must never hit, push, smack or kick our friends, say sorry, if you are sad tell a teacher. We then created a classroom heart with prints of all of our gentle hands to remind us that we only use gentle, kind hands in our school.
