We began our Advent topic ‘Gifts’ by thinking about ‘invisible’ gifts that we can give to others, such as love and kindness. We made Advent promises to give one of these invisible gifts during Advent. We wrote our promises on holly leaves and displayed them on our R.E. display.
We thought about how the gift of Jesus was the most important gift of all. We created our own gift boxes, with Jesus at the centre.
Next we looked at Bible readings from the Prophet Isaiah and John. We wrote speech bubbles announcing the coming of Jesus at Christmas and also wrote letters to thank God for the gift of Jesus.
We have continued to think about how we can help others, through our Geography work about Fairtrade. The children learnt that it is important that farmers in less developed countries are paid a fair price for the food that they grow, so that they have enough money to care for their own families. We learnt about the Fairtrade logo and designed posters to educate others about Fairtrade.
