All of the children in St Bernadette’s House celebrated their patron saint today with a special liturgy led by the Pupil Chaplaincy Team. Everyone dressed in green, the house colour. We heard the life-story of St Bernadette, and reflected on how her special qualities of faith and determination can inspire us to help others as she did. The liturgy ended as we placed our prayers, written on green crosses, on the prayer table.
Afterwards, St Bernadette’s House had a playtime together and a sweet treat!
Did you know…St Bernadette is the patron saint of illness, people ridiculed for their piety, poverty, shepherds, shepherdesses, and Lourdes, France.
Help us, dear Saint Bernadette, to follow your example,
so that irrespective of our own pain and suffering,
we may always be mindful of the needs of others,
especially those whose sufferings are greater than ours.
