The children in Reception are well and truly settled into school now and have been learning lots and lots of new things. We are still learning our school routines and are now very familiar with our learning environment.
In Phonics, we have been learning how to blend to read words with our new phonemes ‘i, n, m, d’. We are becoming really confident at recognising initial sounds. During CIL, we spotted some of our new sounds in our outdoor area!
In Maths, we have been continuing to learn how to subitise!! We have got really good at recognising amounts to 6 without having to count each one. In RE we have been learning about our family name and why we are so precious. We have also been learning about Jesus’s forgiveness in our first week of ‘Bible Stories’. We made decorated headbands to remember that Jesus’s forgiveness is forever.
We have also been learning more about ‘Ourselves’ by creating a painting self-portrait. We have been thinking about the colour of our eyes, hair and and other features.
We are really excited to announce that we will be able to use our new sandpit shed from Monday. We feel that this is going to be a great addition to our outside area.
