We have been busy in Year 2 this week, practising our times tables, writing instructions, carrying out experiments, not to mention designing and painting fantastic shields.
In Year 2, we carried out a science investigation using socks (clean!). In our class discussion, we devised a way to test which sock was the stretchiest. This involved measuring each sock and using weights to stretch them. To make sure that the test was fair we used the same weight to stretch each sock. We then measured them again with the weight in. Finally we calculated the difference between the before and after sock. Some of us even managed to plot our results on a bar graph.
In English we have been reading the poem “Instructions” by Neil Gaiman. You can take a look at the poem using the link http://www.viewpure.com/dWRvqO1MjIs?start=0&end=0
We used the idea and wrote Instructions based on the story of Jack and the Beanstalk called “How to climb a beanstalk and defeat a Giant.”
Finally in Art we explored watercolour. We also learnt about heraldry in History and then painted our designs on to shields.
