Despite the unpredictable weather this week, our KS2 pupils have continued leading reflections and prayer for Lent. They showed our school value of Determination by setting up in the School Library when the Prayer Garden was unavailable.
This week, the theme was Encounter and our focus was on Stations 4, 5 & 6. At Station 4, they considered Mary meeting her son on his way to be crucified and how she might have felt. They thought about how they could comfort someone who was worried about someone close to them. At Stations 5, they spoke about Simon helping Jesus and how they could be on the look-out for people who might need there help. Finally, at Station 6, they thought about Veronica, who put herself at risk by stepping forward to wipe Jesus’ face. They thought of examples of when we might feel afraid
to step in and help other people.
Children from across KS2 have been coming together to reflect on the Stations of the Cross. This Lent, the SVP has invited children and young people to a year of encounter, a chance to meet others and make a difference. As they go on this journey with Jesus, they are challenged to see, think and do, and to make poverty a priority.
