This week, our KS2 pupils have begun leading reflections and prayer in the Upper Site Prayer Garden during lunchtimes. Children from across KS2 have been coming together to reflect on the Stations of the Cross. This Lent, the SVP has invited children and young people to a year of encounter, a chance to meet others and make a difference. As they go on this journey with Jesus, they are challenged to see, think and do, and to make poverty a priority.
This week, our focus was on the first three stations. At Station 1, they considered Pontius Pilates decision to condemn Jesus, thought about who our society often looks down on and discussed how we could help others see that these people are loved by Jesus as much as we are. At Stations 2 and 3, they considered Jesus taking up the cross and falling for the first time. They offered up their worries, collecting them on a cross, and prayed for help carry their ‘crosses’ and for those people who may be feeling the same way.
The children are looking forward to continuing their work throughout Lent.
