Year 5 Boys’ Football Tournament
The Year 5 boys’ football team played their first ever games together in a tournament and managed to come second overall in the tournament, after a hard fought final narrowly only losing 1-0 to the previous winners of this tournament. The boys showed great teamwork and were very impressive throughout the whole tournament. Shout out to Year 4 Franky who competed and stood his ground against the Year 5s. They won 3 games, drew 1 and lost 1 within the first round of games. Well done to Alessandro Ponzo for being coaches’ player of the tournament.
Year 6 Boys’ Football vs Samuel Ryder
Both Year 6 Boys’ football teams came joint first in both of their leagues after their final matches against Samuel Ryder where they scored lots of goals. The boys impressed all season and scored an unbelievable amount of goals. Throughout the whole season both teams showed great teamwork and determination to get it over the line, with some pressure from their coach. After a hard fought game, the A team won 4-0 against Samuel Ryder, Charlie scoring 2, Gabriel scoring 1, and Noah scoring the other. The B team put on quite a show, winning 14-0! Shout out to Jonah who got 6 goals during the game and ended up scoring the most goals for SSAS this season.
Cricket Tournament at Beaumont School
The Year 4s competed in a quick cricket event at Beaumont school. Only one player on the team had played before but they all used their athleticism to keep up and won most of their games. Overall they came second in the tournament, narrowly missing out on representing the district after only missing out by the number of runs scored. Unbelievable effort from everyone and well done to those involved.
Cross country competition at Mandeville
The Year 4’s and 5’s competed in their first cross country event of the year! They absolutely did themselves proud showing off their running skills throughout the entire race and kept going even though they were tired. They showed lots of determination, one of our school values, even when running against Year 6’s and racing against hundreds of others. Their hard work paid off when they finished with some great results:
Louis finishing in 33rd, Adam finishing in 43rd and Darius finishing in 50th.
Enid finishing in 30th and Alexa finishing in 40th.
Everyone should be proud of their performances!
Hockey
The Year 5s and 6s competed in a hockey tournament at Oakland’s college. Some showed off their skills and impressed many, while others had never even played before. However, everyone gave their maximum effort and it paid off! We drew most of our games, and on our final game we got the win. The only game we lost was to the winners of the tournament which is a great achievement. We are so proud of how well our hockey team represented the school! They put in everything they could- an incredible effort for a team who haven’t played at all together before.
