Despite a slightly overcast morning for lots of people in St. Albans, a few breaks in the cloud meant that we were able to see the Solar Eclipse safely this week using two pieces of card! We used a compass to pierce a hole in one. We then stood with our back to the sun and held up the card with a hole in it so that it cast a shadow on the other. We were then able to see the shape of the sun projected on to the lower piece of card. We noticed that today it wasn’t a perfect circle it was in fact a crescent shape.
