This week we have concluded our topic ‘Once Upon A Time’, taking a deeper dive into the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’. Together as a class we created a story map, drawing upon the significant events of the story. The children then extended this learning into CIL, making their own unique maps, some even taking the challenge to write labels and sentences!
Also this week, the children have been learning about why different objects float and sink. We discussed density and which materials would be more likely to float or sink. The children used this knowledge to build their own rafts, thinking carefully about what junk modelling they would use to make sure the Gingerbread floated safely across the river.
Lastly, this week is Children’s Mental Health Week. We have been thinking about different ways that we can express ourselves and what things make us happy. We have also discussed what we can do to help our peers when they are feeling sad. Lots of children expressed how much they love dancing, singing, gymnastics and performing. On our outdoor stage, the children have been expressing themselves to a crowd and have loved every minute of it!
