This week we welcomed the children back to the Summer term of their year in Reception. We have moved onto our new topic – Into The Woods. As a recap to the topic of traditional tales, we reminded ourselves of one of the most popular stories – Goldilocks and the Three Bears. In the story, Goldilocks eats all the bears porridge. In order to fix the situation, Reception have been following instructions and learning how to create porridge to help Goldilocks in the kitchen. They explored their senses by feeling the oats throughout it’s process of becoming porridge.
In RE, we have learnt a new Bible Story – Jesus Feeds The 5000. We learnt about the miracles Jesus made on Earth and how his disciples and followers trusted him and had faith that he would look after them. We had lots of activities to encourage us to think about the story and share our lovely ideas. Our favourite was making our own bread. We followed a recipe and all took part in at least one stage of the bread making process. We mixed the ingredients, rolled it out, let it rise, punched down the dough and then popped it into the oven to bake. Afterwards, we all tried some of our lovely bread and had a moment of reflection on our bible story and how miraculous it was that Jesus fed so many that were hungry.
