This week, the early years went on their first school trip together to Shoeburyness, as part of our topic ‘At The Seaside’. The children were so excited, as for many of them it was their first school trip ever!!
First, we got on the bus with our groups and began our journey to the seaside. There was lots of sing songs and eye spy being played along the way. When we got to Shoeburyness, we went straight to the beach to have our lunch, as everyone was starving!! Once we had our lunch, we enjoyed some time on the beach all together. We built sand castles, pebble sculptures, dug holes to the centre of the earth, played ball games, drew observational drawings and all had lots of fun with one another. Then it was time for ice lollies, which the children thoroughly deserved after their busy day. After a dozen toilet breaks and a whole group photo, we were ready to head back to St Albans. On the way home, many children needed a snooze after their exciting day.
We are so proud of the behaviour and discipline of the Reception children on their first trip. Thank you so much to all parents and carers for helping your child get prepared for the trip and providing all the bits and bobs necessary. We already can’t wait for our next trip in Year 1.
