Literacy – Adapting the Story
Today you are going to change one element of the original story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Here are some potential ideas… Maybe it’s not the 3 bears that Goldilocks visits but instead a house belonging to 3 monkeys (!); maybe the story isn’t set in a cottage, maybe it is set in a castle; maybe when she tries the porridge something magical happens to her! It can be anything you like. Use your imagination! Watch the video below of Miss Holmes adapting her own story.
Now it’s your turn! Draw a new story map detailing the changed element. You can also read/perform your adapted version too if you like!
Understanding the World – Exploring Texture/Scavenger Hunt!
In this video, Mr Miller explains the word ‘texture’ and explores different textures with you by making porridge. Feel free to make porridge along with the video so you can experience the changing textures as we go along! At the end of the video, we have set a scavenger hunt, which will involve you finding objects around your house that either have a different texture, smell or taste. Can you find an object for each texture? Use ‘Scavenger Hunt’ to document your findings!
Story Time with Miss Holmes – The Gruffalo
Today’s story is ‘The Gruffalo’! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

This video will show you an example of how to draw a story map.
Activity: Have a go at drawing your own story map for the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Draw a squiggly line across a piece of paper from the top left down to the bottom. Draw little pictures along the line to map out the key parts of the story. You can ask a grown up to help you write down any key words next to your pictures. Don’t forget you can colour in your pictures at the end too!
Maths – Let’s Make a Pattern!
Start the lesson by doing a Wake and Shake to the video ‘Banana, Banana, Meatball’.
Now watch the video below.
Now it’s your turn to create your own pattern! Can you make up and record your own repeated pattern of actions? E.g. clap, clap, bang table (x3), clap clap, bang table (x3)…
Please upload your patterns as a video onto Tapestry if you can!

Music with Mrs Flatt – Goldilocks Song
For our music today we are going to learn the song ‘When Goldilocks went to the house of the Bears.’ There are 2 videos to watch. You can watch the BBC video by following the link below once the children have learnt the song. Try to encourage them to use different voices for each of the bears and add lots of actions.
I hope you enjoy it.

Maths – Pattern Recognition
In maths we are moving onto a new topic called ‘Pattern Recognition’. This week is going to be all about recognising and exploring the patterns that are everywhere in our environment!
For Maths Lesson 1, please begin by watching this introductory video ‘What is a pattern?’
Now it’s time for you to explore. Can you think of any other stories/rhymes/songs that have a pattern or repeated language? Can you perform a section of it?
Finish the lesson today by listening to the story, ‘Pitter Pattern’.
What patterns can you see or hear in the story?
PSED – Never Give Up!
This week, we are focusing on challenges and never giving up!
Can you try your hardest at a tricky activity – it could be making a tower out of playing cards, have a go at standing on a leg for a minute, make a tower out of just spaghetti and marshmallows or threading beads. Have a go and think how did you find the activity and did you give up? Maybe your mum, dad, brother or sister helped you and that’s ok if you had a go first!
Watch this video of the ‘Hare and the Tortoise’.
Did the tortoise give up? How do you think he felt after he achieved his goal?
A suggested activity is to listen to this song called ‘Never Give Up’.
It’s one of my favourites! Can you put your own actions to the song?
Another suggested activity is to make a super tricky obstacle course around the house (sorry parents) and have a go at completing it without giving up!
Have fun and I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Parents: The topic we are focusing on this half term is Celebrations. The experience of community is an essential and enjoyable part of life for people of every age and faith. The cycle of a year and the span of a lifetime contain occasions for regular celebrations as well as unexpected surprises, when people want to celebrate with family, friends and communities.!
Follow this Celebrations PDF to look at different types of celebrations we might experience – can you think of any more? Can you upload pictures to Tapestry of when you last had a celebration?
Watch the following link for Maisy’s Birthday and think about the following questions.
– How does Maisy get ready for her Birthday?
– What do Maisy and her friends do to celebrate her special day?
