This week, Year 4 have enjoyed taking part in a live National Poetry Day lesson with poet, Simon Mole. He spoke about his poetry book ‘A First Book of Dinosaurs’ and modelled how the children could create their own poem about ‘My Herd’. This could relate to family, communities or clubs the children are part of. The children wrote creative poems, such as
My Herd – football club
A herd means having fun together
A herd means having McDonalds
A herd means going to the movies and eating popcorn
A herd means tidying your room
A herd means not giving up
A herd means helping other people
A herd means being determined.
We have also learned about wise King Solomon and looked at Proverbs 3 Advice to Children. The children chose advice from the Bible and related this to current times.
