Year 6 have had a busy week with lots of exciting events. On Wednesday, as part of our PSHE lessons, we were visited by two community police officers. We are lucky enough to have secured a course of lessons from the police to help the children understanding how to stay safe in a variety of situations. On the whole, the children were well-behaved and asked some interesting questions. This week, they talked about safety online and the children demonstrated good knowledge of the age limits of the apps and games that are popular. It is worth bearing in mind that many communication apps and games are 13+, 16+ and 18+. As this lessons continue, we will keep you updated of the topics covered so that you can discuss them with your child.
On Thursday we, with the rest of the school, took part in World Poetry Day. The theme this year was “Counting”. Over the past couple of weeks, we had read a number of poems around this theme – specifically that of how we all count. Inspired by the poems we read, we created a class poem and even took part in a collaborative art project. We look forward to putting these wonderful pieces of work on display soon.
Next week, we look forward to welcoming everyone to the Year 6 Family Assembly. The children have been busy writing the words themselves by working together in small groups. We continue to build an atmosphere of respect and collaboration across the year group and joint projects such as this help nurture those qualities.
We wish all our families an enjoyable weekend.
