What a very exciting week this week with our new visitors ‘The Chicks’! The children observed the eggs on Monday and Tuesday in the incubator. They were very excited waiting for them to hatch and had lots of questions. We spoke about the life cycle of a chicken in class and some of the children carried out a cutting and pasting activity. On Wednesday we were very excited to hear that some of the chicks had hatched!! The children had so much fun visiting the chicks and making an extra effort to use good listening and inside voices so not to scare the newborn chicks. We can’t wait to watch them grow over the next few days.
In Maths we have been learning about 3d shapes. The children have been busy making rockets during CIL using 3d shapes! In Phonics we have been busy practicing our new words this week and the children have took turns teaching each other too!
In R.E we have continued talking about Good News and Pentecost. We spoke about how Jesus had kept his promise and sent the Holy Spirit to be their friend. We can all share in this happiness and tell everyone. The children coloured in their own picture of the holy spirit. On Thursday afternoon we had a special visit from Father Andrew. He came in to say hello to the children and they shared their good news that day and we said our home time prayer together.
We continued our story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We created a lovely display of the wonderful artwork the children have made. They also made their own ‘very hungry caterpillars’ with cress. Don’t forget to water them!! The children learned a new song this week ‘There’s a tiny caterpillar on a leaf’. We were also lucky enough to find our very own Caterpillar outside. We all had a very close look at it.
It’s been such an exciting week we also had Year 6 children come to visit it us to celebrate finishing their SATS! The children had so much fun playing and interacting with them. The Nursery children commented “ they are so big”, “one of the guys helped me when I dropped the marbles” and “one of the boys showed me the instruments”.
This week we counted up the Pom Poms in our house point jars. Well done to the Red Team”. As a reward for their team effort they got to make cookies together! It was very very close and everyone worked so hard so we had some parachute games to celebrate everyone’s efforts! We look forward to working hard again next week and seeing which team will be next!! Don’t worry everybody will get a turn!!
