This week in Year 5 we have been excited to observe and record two experiments. Continuing our work on reversible and irreversible changes in materials we combined milk and vinegar to create a new material. We also watched as our teachers combined vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. You can see the results in the pictures below.
In English, we have been thinking about the elements involved in writing a battle scene. Inspired by our class book, ‘Viking Boy’ by Tony Bradman, we looked carefully at the features of a battle scene and thought about how to build on the action. We thought we could add context to the scene by describing our hero’s inner thoughts, utilising our skills of “show not tell”. Ask your child to tell you about their ideas – we have been very impressed in class. The children planned their own battle scenes, even acting out their sequence of events to make sure that the scene makes sense.
We have, of course, continued to rehearse for our Passion Play which will take place next Thursday afternoon. Don’t miss it!
