NSPCC Number Day
Year 5 celebrated Number Day today by sharing the story 365 Penguins, where a family receive one penguin every day of the year. We calculated the answers to the problems throughout the book. We then tried to solve penguin related puzzles, including a Pascale’s triangle with missing numbers. Pascal was a self-educated French mathematician who is well-known for creating this triangle. It really made us think to try to work out the pattern. We also practised on Times Tables Rock Stars, linked to the NSPCC Rocks national competition. We shared what we had enjoyed about Number Day with the rest of the school in an assembly, for example working out how many different types of cubes we could make from the penguins in the book and wearing our Maths-themed clothes. What a great way to celebrate Maths!
