Year 1 have been learning some songs inspired by African music including Hakuna Matata (not the one from the Lion King!) and a Ghanaian song called ‘A Keelie Makolay.’ We used claves to tap a rhythm for the chorus of the song. The children really enjoy the last chorus where the tempo gets faster and we add some whoops and dance moves! I’m sure you can see from the photos how much the children love this part!
