On Friday our new Sports Ambassadors and Eco Warriors took part in a Leadership training day at the University of Hertfordshire. This opportunity as part of the School Games, is a day to develop them as a young person and to share their enthusiasm for sport, a healthy lifestyle and the environment with children from other schools. The children took part in a range of practical and theory based sessions in order to train them to fulfil their roles back in school. One of the highlights of the day was meeting Kelly Rose, the World and European Champion in Taekwondo and Mia McIntosh, a local student, who is the currently the U18’s European Champion for Hurdles. The team worked hard and played hard and I am very much looking forward to working with them over the coming year.
Each year, St Albans City FC work to develop a strong relationship between the club and local schools in St Albans. Last week, two of our children were selected as our Young Saints Ambassadors for the 2022/23 season. Saoirse and Laura were treated to a special training session delivered by some of the players and team coach, Chris Winton, They had a fantastic time. As part of their role they would like to encourage children from SSAS to become a Young Saint and support St Albans City FC.
