Year 2 a fun filled week of maths activities. The children thoroughly enjoyed our maths book ‘How many Jelly Beans’ which inspired all our maths work this week. As we are working on statistics in Year 2 it was lots of fun creating tally charts, pictograms and bar models using jelly beans. It was even more fun having jelly beans as a treat afterwards!! Well done to everyone that dressed up in numbers and shapes to support the NSPCC thank you for your generous donations.
This week, our Year 2 artists have been exploring painting in Art. They learned about primary and secondary colours, mixed colours, and had fun making marks with sponges and paintbrushes. We focused on replicating the markings of animals from the Chinese Zodiac calendar.
Finally we ended our Friday with a special visit from our Environmental tutor Miss Sophia. The children learned about different types of birds and why we need to protect birds. They then worked together to do some bird watching and collect some data about the birds they observed.
Next week, we’re excited to celebrate Chinese New Year with the kids proudly wearing their newly created animal masks. It’s been a joyful journey of creativity and learning!
