Year 6 have been enjoying exploring their Science topic on Electricity this half term. They have ably mastered the symbols representing the various components and can draw a circuit effectively. Developing on this skill then, they have gone on to build circuits and test if they work, or what is preventing them from working. They have even tested questions they have posed – such as how to make a bulb shine brighter.
In English the children have started work on the classic Victorian novel, “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. In this unit of work, they will be re-writing the opening scenes using dialogue to create atmosphere. This will then lead to a diary entry by one of the characters. Finally, using the book as inspiration the children will create their own ghost story. You can see here the children acting out the scene where Scrooge encounters the ghost of Marley!
